Great have been the blessings received by men in response to songs of praise.... How often by words of holy song are unsealed in the soul the springs of penitence and faith, of hope and love and joy!—Education, 162.

Jesus is our example.—The Desire of Ages, 74.

He was never so full of worldly care as to have no time or thought for heavenly things. Often He expressed the gladness of His heart by singing psalms and heavenly songs. Often the dwellers in Nazareth heard His voice raised in praise and thanksgiving to God. He held communion with heaven in song; and as His companions complained of weariness from labor, they were cheered by the sweet melody from His lips. His praise seemed to banish the evil angels, and, like incense, fill the place with fragrance. The minds of His hearers were carried away from their earthly exile, to the heavenly home.—The Desire of Ages, 73. RRe 258

With Jesus at our head we all descended from the City down to this earth, on a great and mighty mountain, which could not bear Jesus up, and it parted asunder, and there was a mighty plain. Then we looked up and saw the great City, with twelve foundations, twelve gates, three on each side, and an angel at each gate. We all cried out, “The City, the great City, it's coming! It's coming down from God out of heaven!” And it came and settled on the place where we stood. Hvn 135

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. James 5:13. KJV
